My first encounter with Durian
After seeing Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre foods guy) eat everything from cured pork blood to 3 year old fish, I’ve always wondered why he could never eat or get near Durian. Until i got one whiff of it for myself at a Tesco market in Bangkok. Imagine raw sewage mixed with old gym socks mixed with skunk spray and you have the odor Durian gives off.
i’ve always seen it at asian markets, but have never been daring enough to try lol
My next trip to Asia i will eat Durian and Bugs, this go around i wasn’t ready lol.
I never actually found it that bad, to be honest. Maybe my sense of smell isn’t as good as others.
Have you tried eating it?
I wanted to try it, but my stomach was already upset from some street meat so i decided to pass lol. Do you know anyone that’s had it? How does it taste?
